Introduction

In an era marked by rapid technological advancements, public administration is undergoing a significant metamorphosis through digital transformation. The integration of digital technologies into governmental processes is reshaping the way public services are delivered, making them more efficient, accessible, and citizen-centric (Aharon & Siev 2021).

Digital transformation empowers public administrations to streamline services and enhance the overall citizen experience. From online service portals to mobile applications, citizens can now access a myriad of public services with greater ease and convenience (Bartik, et al. 2020). This not only saves time but also contributes to increased transparency and accountability.

Harnessing the power of data is a cornerstone of digital transformation. Public administrations can collect, analyse, and utilize vast amounts of data to make informed decisions (Hilliard & Brunt, 2020). This data-driven approach enables governments to identify trends, allocate resources efficiently, and respond promptly to emerging challenges (Kamoche & Wood 2023).

Automation and digital tools significantly improve the efficiency of administrative processes. From document management to workflow automation, digital transformation allows public sector organizations to reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, minimize errors, and allocate human resources more strategically (Liu, et al. 2021).

Digital platforms facilitate direct communication between citizens and government agencies. Social media, online surveys, and interactive websites enable governments to gather feedback, understand public sentiment, and involve citizens in decision-making processes (Mintah, et al. 2022).

This fosters a sense of community and collaboration. As public administration embraces digital technologies, the need for robust cyber security measures becomes paramount (Naguib, et al. 2021). Governments must invest in advanced cyber security infrastructure to safeguard sensitive data, protect against cyber threats, and ensure the trust and confidence of citizens in digital services (Song, et al. 2021).

While digitization brings numerous benefits, there is a risk of creating a digital divide if not implemented inclusively (Williams & Resto-Leon, 2023). Public administrations must ensure that digital services are accessible to all citizens, regardless of their socio-economic status or technological proficiency (Zaremba, et al. 2022).

Conclusion

Digital transformation is not just a buzzword; it's a fundamental shift that is reshaping the way governments operate and interact with their citizens. Embracing the future in public administration involves a commitment to innovation, a focus on citizen-centric solutions, and a proactive approach to addressing challenges. As governments continue to leverage digital technologies, they pave the way for a more connected, efficient, and responsive public sector that is well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of society.
